We're Marrrrrrrrrried!!!!

Well, it's certainly been an exciting two weeks to say the VERY least. This entry cannot be started without a huge thank you to everyone who made our wedding weekend so very, very, very special. We are so blessed to have so many great people to share our lives with.

Enough of the goosh, I know you just want to see the pictures!

Holy Smokes, Less than 2 Weeks Away!

It's getting down to crunch time, but luckily, there's not left much to crunch on. We have the pleasure of dinner with the Awesome Hal this week to go over the last important parts of the ceremony. We have to finish our homework assignment today! Everything is all set with the photographer. I'm so excited, she really has an eye for beautiful pictures. There have been rumors of getting together for drinks this coming Friday night, but we'll see what comes of that. Starting to plan for the honeymoon. Sunblock, camera, suitcases, and flip flops. Two weeks from today, I promise you I will be on a beach. I've never looked forward to a vacation more in my life!

In related news, and on a sad note, Koby is no longer with us. He had a great life and I'm glad that I got to spend his last two years with him. Like I said to Seamus on the way home from the vet, "Hey, don't people and animals diagnosed with terminal cancer usually lose weight?! Koby's gained ten pounds in the past year on a strict diet of steak, pizza, and cake!" He will be greatly missed, but we find peace in knowing that he was the happiest dog that either of us has ever known.

So in celebration, one more closing of the blog with a picture of Koby, the day he wore Seamus' shirt around the house all day and wouldn't let us take if off of him.

The final details are being ironed out! I picked up my dress from the tailor yesterday, it is PERFECT and a half. I can't believe it! We finally booked our flight to the Bahamas, it's going to be an early morning after the wedding. Finalizing the play list. Received the last of the jewelry. Got the perfect cake pans. Buying cake accessories today. Perfect wedding cake topper has arrived. The to-do list is getting shorter and shorter by the day!

We're running out of pictures of Koby, going to change it up this time with a picture of Sweet Pea.

It was a crazy week/weekend in wedding planning! Our dresses finally arrived. Halleluah! They are as perfect as I hoped they would be. After a few alterations, I'm sure we'll all be STUNNING on the big day. The flowers are all set, thanks to the helpful hands of Momma Dukes, Jody, Auntie Gail, Jess, and Jennie. We had so much fun putting them all together into our bouquets and mini-bouquets. This week's big plans include shopping for the cake and going to the seamstress. Can't wait!

48 Days To Go!

Can't believe how close we're getting to September 12th! There are lots of loose ends being tied up as I type. Flowers, rehearsal dinner menu, hair appointments, and centerpieces are all coming together quite nicely thanks to a lot of helpers! Our dresses FINALLY arrived yesterday and we'll be going next Saturday to pick them up. Can't wait try them on!

Yesterday was the big bridal shower. We had a fantastic afternoon! It was so sweet that everyone took the time to celebrate (and some people drove reeeeeeeeeeally far to celebrate). Thanks to everyone who contributed with food and the clean-up and all. And of course, a huge thanks to Jessica for putting it all together. She's just the best MOH a girl can ask for. It was really a beautiful afternoon.

Being that there are only 48 days to go, Seamus and I will be heading down to town hall for our marriage license tomorrow! :)

Of course, the Kobers is super excited.

The Big Day Is Coming Quick

The big day is slowly creeping up on us! We've had a great response for the RSVPs and are happy to report that just about everyone invited will be able to attend! We're still narrowing down the food choices, so if you have a favorite at City Steam, now is the time to chime in. But we won't get a say in what beer is on tap, so you'll just have to come to find out.

Looking for some input. Do you have a creative way to get people to their tables for dinner? We aren't doing assigned seating and are looking for a way to slowly get people in line for the buffet. Creative categories? Birth month? Color socks? Level of chest hair? Send some suggestions, please!

The rehearsal dinner is going to be at Fiore II in Middletown, which we're very excited about. Thanks to Sophie for organizing it!

90-Day Count Down

Yesterday, we had the pleasure of lunch with the Awesome Hal at Ruby Tuesday's. The grapes I had for dessert were too perfect to not mention. Awesome Hal had gotten Seamus a little hand-painted Dallas Cowboys helmet. It is the newest addition to our mantle. The gift made it very obvious that Awesome Hal is very in-tune with the priorities in our household. We started getting everything laid out for the ceremony. There was a lot more to think about than I had anticipated. It was very exciting!

Afterwords, we went up to the jeweler to start looking at wedding bands. I was lucky enough to find something that fits perfectly with my engagement ring and they were having a big sale. It was meant to be!!! Seamus was able to narrow down his options, so we'll be heading back in a few weeks for his final decision.

All in all, it was a great wedding-week! We're around the 90-day count down mark and the anticipation is driving me crazy. We're looking forward to a very busy summer and getting all the planning loose ends tied up. In close, I leave you with a picture of Koby.

A Very Special Surprise Shower!

Today was a crazy day. My grandma Betty, Mom, Auntie Gail, and Jennie threw me a great surprise shower at my grandma's house. It was a great day to spend time with people that I don't get to see very often. We had a very nice lunch while the men went down to the shore (I'm sure it wasn't too much of a hardship to keep themselves busy when Lenny and Joe's was involved). My sweet cousin Jennie had special M&Ms made with our faces on them that tasted extra sweet. I managed to break three ribbons while opening presents, so we'll have to wait and see how accurate that tradition is! Thanks to the lovely ladies who shared the day with me, it was a great afternoon!

We're Moving Right Along

Well, it's certainly been a busy week, but not too much to report. Finally got the invitations ordered and we're just about done with the wedding registry. Still working on those dishes. We set a lunch date with the minister, the Awesome Hal. I think that's about all we have to share for now. Still working on picking a place for the rehearsal dinner and going shopping with the Mama Dukes tomorrow for some loose ends. And by loose ends, I mean shoes and beads. :)

This Week In Wedding News

As Jess stated in a comment, the bridal shower will be at the Wallingford VFW on Saturday, July 25th. Many people have graciously offered to bring things such as food. If you would like to help out, please contact Jess at jessderoy@comcast.net. She will be sending out invitations soon.

We FINALLY registered. We went to Macy's last weekend and had a blast with the little scanner gun. We haven't finished picking everything yet, but hopefully will in the coming days. If you want to take a peek at what's on the registry, go to www.macys.com and click on the "Wedding Registry" tab. On the next screen, you can type in either of our names under the "Give" tab. Ours should pop up and you can click "View Registry". Another option is always our favorite home improvement store, Lowe's.

If you are having trouble commenting after a post, I think the solution is to select to "Comment As" Anonymous, unless you have an account. If you would also like to follow the blog, click the "Follow" tab. If you don't have one of the accounts they offer to select, you can create a new google account. However, I don't know how affective that would be in following, since this isn't an account you already regularly access. If other people have tips about how to easily follow the blog, please leave them in the comments to this post.

Derek (and all others interested), there has been no beer-commitment. Whatever is on at the regular bar will be at our bar, the Naughty Nurse, an IPA, and a stout. The other two will be whatever seasonal brew they have. Since you're in with the brewmaster, you'd probably be able to get more info than us on the matter!

The Engagement

I suppose the best way to start a wedding blog, after the introduction, is to catch you up on the engagement!

I was hell-bent on having a nice family picture of me, Seamus, and Koby. I enlisted the help of my mom's friend, the Great Jody, to meet us at Wadsworth one evening in October (the 23rd, to be exact) to help us check this task off the list. Seamus and I got there early to scope out the terriroty. While near the waterfalls, he asked me to climb out this small rock that was projecting over the water. It was precarious at best. We moved over to the other side of the park for the first set of pictures. Everything was going well, Koby was behaving, the scenery was beautiful, I was actually having a good hair day, and the sun wasn't going to set for a while.

Round 1 of the photoshoot was done so we decided to go over to the waterfall side of the park for Round 2. Seamus and I climbed back out to the precarious little rock over the water. Smiling, smiling, laughing, smiling. I'm off in my own little happy world. Next thing I know, I'm being pushed over and I am very concerned about being 6 inches from the water. Then I look over and am very concerned as to why Seamus has to tie his shoes NOW of all times. But then I realize he's pulling a ring box out of his pocket. Lo and behold, he was moving me over so he'd have room to kneel down and propose!!!

I accepted without a moment of hesitation. We kissed, we hugged, I screamed once I had a chance to see how beautiful my ring is, and we immediately started calling our parents.

All in all, I couldn't have asked for a more perfect proposal.
